FAQ

Do you offer in-person sessions? At this time I have availability for in-person sessions at my office in John’s Landing two days a week. I also offer secure tele-health sessions.

How often would we meet? Sessions can be weekly or every other week, depending on what meets your/your families needs. If it’s possible, I find that meeting weekly for the first 4ish sessions is helpful in establishing the therapeutic relationship. Your scheduling needs are something we will discuss during the free consult call.

What is the involvement of parent/caregivers of minors in therapy? Building and maintaining trust with teens/adolescents is foundational in therapy. Parents and caregivers may be kept updated of general progress with the teen’s agreement and awareness, except around issues of safety when they are alerted regardless. I thoroughly explain confidentiality & its limits to each of my clients & their families. When clinically appropriate, I welcome periodic check-ins or parent/caregiver consultations. I know it can take a lot of work for parents/caregivers to find the right therapist for their teen. It's important to me to have build the necessary trust & transparency in order to support your teen's positive experience with therapy.

Are there any services that you do not provide? I do not provide: - Custody or parenting plan evaluations or recommendations - Forensic assessments or evaluations -Psychological, developmental, or psychiatric testing (diagnosis of ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder falls under this category). I can, however, help connect you to a provider who can provide this service.

How can we get started? What does the initial process look like? The process of starting therapy can vary depending upon your age. For those over 18, you can reach out and schedule your free consult. I’ll send along some additional info and a brief questionnaire beforehand. Then, we’ll have our 20-30 minute video consult to discuss what brings you to therapy, talk about questions you may have, and figure out if we’d be a good fit. We’ll then discuss logistics, I'll send along some paperwork, and we'll start our sessions! For those under 18, generally we will start the video consult individually and then bring in your parent/caregiver for the second part of the consult. We can also discuss other ways to structure this introduction depending on your preferences. Then, for our first session, I will ask parent/caregivers to join for the first 15 minutes to discuss confidentiality, policies, & logistics together.
